The Week Ahead is our hand-picked event guide to the next seven days in Sioux Falls and slightly beyond. For guaranteed placement or to promote your event ahead of time, email [email protected] about a featured event listing.

May 28: Cosmos and Cocktails

Enjoy a night at the museum reimagined for adults when the Washington Pavilion hosts Cosmos and Cocktails from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The theme is Exoplanets — Worlds Beyond Our Sun. Ken Murphy will lead a live, immersive journey to distant worlds. Tickets include after-hours museum access, live planetarium shows and drinks throughout the evening. Tickets can be purchased here.

May 29: Pools open

All the Sioux Falls Parks & Recreation swimming pools will open for the summer at 11 a.m. Friday. If you want to exercise while wet, consider water walking and lap swim. At Drake Springs, for example, you can walk against the current from 11 a.m. to 12:55 p.m. Monday through Friday. Learn more about the city’s pools and splash pads here.

May 29: Solo performance

Lucky’s on Louise at 6401 S. Louise Ave. will host live music on its patio at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Darin Bunjer, who plays with Whiskey Rich, is a bassist and tambourinist and is known as “a human jukebox.” He’s going solo for this event.

May 30: Family Fest Fun Cruise

Enjoy a day of family fun at multiple locations from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Most families start at the swag bag stop — the Outdoor Campus — and then choose participating locations of interest. Many activities are free but there is a cost to some. Visit here for the full guide.

June 1: Feeding kids

Classes are over for this school year, but there will be hungry kids when school starts up again. Hungry Hearts’ mission is to make sure local kids have access to hot lunches at school and the support they deserve. That’s why Hungry Hearts and Jesse Severson are hosting their first golf tournament at The Country Club of Sioux Falls, 3400 W. 22nd St. The four-person scramble will start at 1 p.m. Monday.

Coming up: June 6

When you reach 100 years, it’s time to celebrate. That’s why Sioux Falls Parks & Recreation will host the Elmwood Golf Course 100-year ParTee from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 6. There will be golf, yoga, live music, Fast Five fun and family-friendly entertainment. Yoga begins at 7 a.m. on the green overlooking the 18th hole. First Tee South Dakota coaches will lead Fast Five golf from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Play a nine-hole round of golf for $19.26, plus cart, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a centennial scramble at 1 p.m. and the Dalton Petersen Trio near the 18th hole. Space is limited for the golfing events, so call Elmwood Golf Course at 605-367-7092 to register.
