March 20-22: Fish fest

Ready to cast a line over open water? Prepare yourself by attending the Scheels Fish Fest at 2101 W. 41st St. It will begin at 8 a.m. Friday and end at 6 p.m. Sunday. Tom Huynh, a National Walleye Tournament champion, will offer the fishing industry’s first-ever curriculum-based education platform. He will speak at noon Saturday and Sunday. The Saturday event is sold out, but a few tickets remain for Sunday. Tickets cost $25 but include a $25 Scheels gift card. You can purchase yours here. The events also includes prize giveaways. The first 50 customers each day will receive a free hat.

March 20: Telling tales

Friday is World Storytelling Day, and from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., it will be celebrated at the Arrowhead House at Arrowhead Park, 1600 River Bluff Road. Community members and cultural groups will share favorite tales, folklore and traditions. It’s a family event hosted by Sioux Falls Parks & Recreation. The event is free, and there’s no registration.

March 20: Keep on partyin’

Not ready to quit celebrating St. Patrick’s Day? The party will continue at 8:30 p.m. Friday when the band Sugardaddy performs at The Thirsty Duck, 945 S. Marion Road. The band has been together since 1997.

March 21: Free day at the museum

Admission to the Kirby Science Discovery Center and the Visual Arts Center will be free on Saturday, thanks to Sylvan Learning. Come to the Washington Pavilion to explore three floors of hands-on science exhibits, eight art galleries and The Children’s Studio for creative art-making.

March 21: Special Delivery

Ready to see baby farm animals up close and personal? Stockyards Ag Experience, 300 E. Falls Park Drive, is bringing in young calves and lambs to the Special Delivery event from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday. Two farm families will introduce their new arrivals and talk about what it’s like to raise and care for these animals in South Dakota.

March 22: Wedding showcase

Monick Yards, 605 E. Eighth St., is hosting a free wedding showcase, The Vow, from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. You can register here. The event will include thousands of dollars in wedding giveaways, speakers, consultations, food and dessert samples, cocktail tastings and swag bags for the first 150 brides.
