The Week Ahead is our hand-picked event guide to the next seven days in Sioux Falls and slightly beyond. For guaranteed placement or to promote your event ahead of time, email [email protected] about a featured event listing.

Jan. 30: Bike night

It’s the first indoor bike night of the year at J&L Harley-Davidson from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. There will be music, snacks and ice-cold drinks. Plus, J&L will give away a pair of Sturgis wristbands to one winner. You also can enter to win a new Harley-Davidson motorcycle that will be given away at the Bike Night Finale in September.

Jan. 30: Museum tour

The NAACP’s Sioux Falls chapter will host a tour of the South Dakota African American History Museum at the Washington Pavilion from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday. It will be an evening of art, history and community. Zach Van Harris will offer a guided tour from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. The all-ages event is free, with a suggested donation of $15 to benefit the widow of the late artist Porter Williams. Refreshments will be available for purchase at the Washington Pavilion’s cafe. An after-party with music from Maren Engel will run from 9 to 10:30 p.m. at Trio Jazz Club. Tickets for that cost $15 and are available here.

Jan. 31: Coffee and yoga

Start your Saturday with sunrise, geese, coffee and yoga at the recently renovated Arrowhead House at Arrowhead Park, 1600 River Bluff Road. Bonus: You’ll have a beautiful view of the quarry. Cost is $8; you can register here.

Feb. 3: Wood carving

Discover the creative world of wood carving with Steve Hunter, a Toronto, South Dakota-based carver who has been carving since 1998. This beginner-friendly course also is designed for those coming back to carving after a pause. Learn core safety and carving fundamentals using one knife, plus a complete end-to-end project. Cost is $150. If you’re 16 or older, you can register here. Classes run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Feb. 10 at Mosaic Arts & Events, 500 N. Main Ave.

Feb. 3: Doggie dates

If your valentine has four legs, make plans for Doggie Date Night, which will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Jacobson Plaza Pawsible Dog Park with photo-ops, a valentine-themed treat bar for pups, mock-TAILS for humans and more. Registration is $5; you can sign up here.

Coming up: Indoor outdoor experience

Gist Wine Shop and Landscape Garden Centers have partnered to create an immersive walk-through indoor experience that will bring in the feeling of the outdoors. The Outdoor Edit is a come-and-go event at Landscape Garden Centers, and you can wander at your own pace. Cultivated in Love will offer a curated charcuterie, and there will be a hands-on make-and-take, along with a take-home gift. Cost is $10 — free for those 12 and younger. Doors are open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 21 and  11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 22. The educational workshops are at 10 a.m. Saturday and noon Sunday, with the make-and-take workshops at 2 p.m. There is a VIP night Feb. 20. You can get your tickets for that here.
