March 1: Celebrating Women’s History

Les Femmes, a celebration of Women’s History Month, will bring five artists together in the Third Eye Gallery. Nicole Baartman, Kelsey Bageant, Jay Lee, Breanna Fischer and Alex Lunstra will exhibit and sell works throughout March. The event will begin Friday at the gallery in Vishnu Bunny Tattoo and Piercing, 101 E. 10th St. House DJ Phil Bjorneberg is assembling an all-female artist set. It runs from 7 to 9 p.m. There’s no cover, and all ages are welcome.

March 1-2: Snocross

Yes, it is still winter. To prove it, Snocross is returning to Sioux Falls at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds on Friday and Saturday.

The AMSOIL championship Snocross pro autograph session will run from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday. There will be access to behind-the-scenes racer pits and games, inflatables, a coloring zone and additional kids’ activities. Children 12 and younger are admitted free. Save $10 on adult tickets by purchasing before the event.

March 2: Yin and yang

Water to Wood: Yin with a Dash of Yang will feature yoga instruction from master teacher Carole Westerman of Omaha. Westerman has more than 30 years of experience, and she will offer two workshops Saturday at Joy Collective Yoga Studio, 921 E. Eighth St. For tickets, click on this link. All levels are welcome. The workshops will involve yin poses and slow flow, interwoven with an introduction to TCM, Ayurveda and Marma points.

March 2: Tap takeover

As part of South Dakota Craft Beer Week, the South Dakota Craft Brewers Guild and Monks Ale House, 422 E. Eighth St., will present a tap takeover at 3 p.m. Saturday. Brewery members of the guild will share what they’ve been producing across the state, and there will be a pop-up shop with OH Geez Design.

March 4: Get jazzy

Augustana University will present the 49th annual Jazz on the Upper Great Plains Festival at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Washington Pavilion’s Mary W. Sommervold Hall. The Northlander’s Jazz Band will perform with special guest pianist Matthew Whitaker. The Lincoln High School Jazz Band will open the concert as special guests. You can purchase tickets here.

Upcoming: March 7-10

Feel like a trip to Loompaland? The Dakota Academy of Performing Arts will present “Willy Wonka Jr.,” an adventure set in a magical jungle, at 7 p.m. March 7-9 and 2 p.m. March 9-10 at the Orpheum Theater Center. It’s an adaptation of the classic Roald Dahl tale. Tickets are available here.
