The Week Ahead: April 15-21
The Week Ahead is our hand-picked event guide to the next seven days in Sioux Falls and slightly beyond. For guaranteed placement or to promote your event ahead of time, email [email protected]s about a featured event listing.
April 16: Mario Party Fridays
The newly opened Katrina’s Boutique blends retro-fit games with boutique shopping — especially on Friday nights. From 6 to 10 p.m., the store at 301 S. Garfield Ave. hosts Mario Party competitions, with free food and prizes for the winner. It’s a $15 entry fee to compete. Click here to learn more.

April 17-18: Racin, Ranchin & Ropin Extravaganza
This weekend event at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds brings two days of fun, including a barrel race, breakaway roping, the ranch rodeo and team roping with a four-wheeler giveaway.

April 17: Crime Stoppers Shred Event
Spring cleaning should include shredding. Whether you’re getting rid of old files, closing a business or just clearing the clutter, take it all to this annual event to benefit Sioux Empire Crime Stoppers. It runs from 8 a.m. to noon, and locations are the parking lots of Washington High School at Sixth and Sycamore, Lincoln High School at Cliff and I-229 and Roosevelt High School at 41st and Sertoma.

This event is the sole fundraiser for the nonprofit Sioux Empire Crime Stoppers, and a suggested donation is $5 per box or bag.
For the safety of yourself and volunteers, this will be a “touchless” event. Please stay in your vehicle, and have the items you would like shredded in the backseat of your vehicle or in your trunk.
April 17: Royal Princess Ball
A new entertainment event at the Denny Sanford Premier Center includes some surprise guests. It’s designed for “princesses” age 3 to 7 but open to all. There will be multiple sanitizing stations available, and characters will practice social distancing and wear clear, nearly invisible face masks.

Meet-and-greet with your favorite princesses at various sessions throughout the day, plus enjoy games, story time singalong and ballroom dance moves. Click here to learn more.
April 21: Spring Terrarium Building
It’s back by popular demand, so register early. Earth Day is fast approaching, so get out your green thumb, and create a terrarium.

Terrariums add green to any indoor space, have been shown to increase indoor air quality, reduce stress and increase workplace productivity. This popular class at the Oyate Community Center runs from 6 to 7 p.m. The class is designed for age 16 and older, and the cost is $15. Please bring a medium glass bowl; all other supplies and instruction will be provided. Registration required. Email: [email protected].
