Road Report: June 10, 2024
Construction season is here, so we’re back with our weekly look at what projects are done, where you’ll find traffic impacts and what’s scheduled next.
What’s underway
10th Street: Work began after Memorial Day on 10th Street between West and Euclid avenues.

This is the first phase of a neighborhood project that will reconstruct 10th Street from West to Menlo avenues, Covell Avenue from 10th to 11th streets and Menlo from Ninth to 10th streets.

Work will include replacing the century-old water main and sanitary sewer — installed between 1910 and 1921 depending on the block! — streetlight replacement, accessible curb ramp upgrades, concrete curb and gutter, and asphalt paving.
Traffic should use Ninth or 12th streets as alternate routes.

The first phase of the project is expected to be complete in August, and the entire project is expected to be complete in November.

Sycamore Avenue: The contractor continues to make good progress on the concrete repairs on Sycamore Avenue between Arrowhead Parkway and Madison Street.

The repairs on the west side of the street between Arrowhead and Sixth Street were completed just after Memorial Day.

Repairs are now in progress on the east side of the street between Arrowhead and Sixth.

Work will begin on curb and gutter repairs between Sixth and Madison streets as early as this week.

All work on this project is expected to be complete in November.

What’s next
26th Street & I-229: Beginning today, structure repair work is scheduled to begin on the 26th Street bridge over Interstate 229 and the I-229 bridges over the Big Sioux River and Southeastern Avenue. Rehabilitation work is being done on all three bridge structures, and an epoxy deck seal is being placed on the 26th Street bridge. Lane closures will be in place on both northbound and southbound I-229 between exits 4 and 6, and on 26th Street during construction. Delays are expected, so traffic should consider alternate routes. This work is expected to be complete in November.
Grange Avenue: Beginning today, Grange Avenue will be closed from 22nd to 26th streets to allow crews to perform road maintenance work. This work is expected to be complete by the end of the day.
41st Street: Beginning on Tuesday, 41st Street will be closed to traffic west of Ellis Road to allow crews to install new underground utilities at Lana Drive. Traffic will be detoured on Ellis or 466th Avenue as alternate routes. This work is expected to be complete by the end of the week, weather permitting.
11th Street: Beginning on Tuesday, the far left and parking lanes on 11th Street will be closed east of Phillips Avenue to allow crews to set a crane for work on an adjacent property. This work is expected to be complete by the end of the day.
