4 new things to eat this week

Here’s a timely dish perfect for the start of hunting season. Parker’s Bistro offers a handmade pheasant tortellini, made with pheasant sausage, butternut squash purée, sage oil, pecorino and pistachio.

Jack Rose Social Club recently opened a second location, this one in downtown Sioux Falls at The Steel District. Both restaurants — the other one is at 69th and Western — have the same menu. One of the new items is Pesto Vin Blanc Pasta. It features the restaurant’s signature vin blanc, or white wine, cream sauce with asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes and garlic with a choice of protein. It’s served with lemon for adding a squeeze of brightness to the dish and garlic bread. Protein options include chicken that’s grilled, blackened or parmesan fried chicken breast, grilled shrimp, grilled or blackened salmon or steak.

Why wait for a turkey dinner with all the trimmings until Thanksgiving? Firehouse Subs has a new Thanksgiving Turkey Sub for a limited time. It includes carved slices of turkey breast, stuffing, cranberry sauce and mayo on a toasted sub roll.

Fiero Pizza has added another gourmet cookie to its dessert lineup. Japanese Matcha Cookies feature ceremonial-grade matcha, which is revered for its umami flavor and vibrant green color, the restaurant says. There also are chunks of premium white chocolate. The best part? The cookies are baked to order — 12 minutes in the oven — and come in packages of three. Customers also can order in advance.
