The week ahead: Sept. 18-24
The Week Ahead is our hand-picked event guide to the next seven days in Sioux Falls and slightly beyond. For guaranteed placement or to promote your event ahead of time, email [email protected] about a featured event listing.
Sept. 18-21: SiouxperCon
There’s a new event leading up to SiouxperCon this year. Veterans may attend a free question-and-answer session with actor John Ratzenberger from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the South Dakota Military Heritage Alliance. Doors open at 5 p.m. Pre-submit questions for Ratzenberger, perhaps best known for “Cheers” and the “Toy Story” movies, here.

Siouxpercon itself will run from Friday through Sunday at the Sioux Falls Convention Center. Learn everything you need to know here.

Sept. 18: Sanderson Sisters
Prepare for Halloween by creating your own wall hanging of the spooky Sanderson sisters from “Hocus Pocus.” The crafting will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday at Good NAtured, 921 E. Eighth St. Leading the workshop is Kristin Catlett of Glow & Go. Reserve your spot here.

Sept. 19: Touch-a-Truck
Find out what it’s like to sit at the steering wheel of a great big truck at Touch-A-Truck, an event by Sioux Falls Parks & Recreation from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Harmodon Park, 5721 E. 41st St. You can explore various vehicles and talk to the people who operate them. Plus, there will be inflatables. No registration is required.

Sept. 20: Pre- and post-party
Going to the Jason Aldean concert on Saturday? Kick off the festivities at The Den Cocktails & Casino, 909 N. West Ave., when The Nolan Clark Band will perform. The pre-show will start at 5:30 p.m. and end at 7:30 p.m. The post-show will run for at least two hours after the concert. The six-piece band includes a fiddler and slide guitar player. Plus, you can attend even if you’re not going to Jason Aldean.

Sept. 20: Second Saturday Market
Enjoy an evening filled with food trucks, live music and refreshments. The Second Saturday Market is a one-of-a-kind community event hosted in downtown Sioux Falls at the 8th & Railroad Center. It will run from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, and admission is free. Goods available will include vintage clothing, sneakers, collectibles, toys, comics, cards, home decor, home baked goods and plants.

Coming up: 10 years of Good Night
Good Night Theatre Collective will ring in its 10th season with a cabaret. The Decade Gala will feature an all-star cast of vocalists and musicians re-creating nine seasons’ worth of favorite Good Night tunes. The evenings of Sept. 25 and 26 will include a cocktail-hour reception and retrospective in the Washington Pavilion’s Schulte Room before the show, starting at 6:30 p.m. You can purchase tickets here.
