Nov. 24: Pop-up shops
Stop by Convolo, 201 N. Weber Ave., on Black Friday to get a head start on holiday shopping with local small businesses. Vendors will feature clothing, accessories and home goods. They include Everiety, Tint+Clay, Dakotah Knits, Mari+Mae and Winniefred. It will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Nov. 24: Cocoa & Carols
The Premiere Playhouse’s cast of “A Christmas Carol” will do just that at 6:30 p.m. Friday — sing Christmas carols. While they’re singing, Premiere Playhouse staff and board members will serve free hot chocolate, all at the Orpheum Theater Center, 315 N. Phillips Ave. It ends in time for you to see the Parade of Lights. And FYI: The first performance of “A Christmas Carol” will be Dec. 15.

Nov. 24: Parade of Lights
The 31st annual Parade of Lights will welcome in the 2023 holiday season, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The parade route runs north on Phillips Avenue from 13th to Fifth streets. You’ll see holiday floats with festive decorations and, of course, plenty of Christmas lights.

Nov. 26: NaNoWriMo
You’ve been working hard on your book during National Novel Writing Month, and now it’s time for that final push joined by others with a similar goal. Full Circle Book Co-op, 123 W. 10th St., will host the final writing session for three hours Sunday, beginning at 1 p.m.

Nov. 28: Christmas Paint Party
Acreage Creations and Hartford United Methodist Church are hosting a paint party from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 28 for children, recommended for age 5 and older. The paints, jute and sealer needed to create a 10- to 12-inch sign ready for hanging will be provided. Adult assistance is required. Click here for tickets. Painting typically takes 30 to 60 minutes.

Nov. 29: Open Mic Night
DaDa Gastropub, 402 N. Main Ave., offers a monthly Open Mic Night with local artists and a featured performer on the last Wednesday of the month — and that’s Nov. 29. It is free to participate and free to attend for all ages. DaDa opens at 5 p.m. with the usual DaDa dinner and drinks throughout. The show will begin at 8 p.m.
