March 9: Ceili dance
Irish eyes will be smiling ahead of St. Patrick’s Day during the March Ceili â pronounced kay-lee â at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Old Courthouse Museum. The informal Irish social dance will feature the Rowena Ceili Band. All dances are taught and called. No experience is necessary.
March 9: Irish step dancing
Speaking of dancing, the Celtic Steps Irish Dancers perform at McNally’s Irish Pub, 6211 S. Old Village Place. Happy hour runs from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, with the performance starting at 6:30 p.m. Can’t make it this week? The dancers will be back March 16.
March 10: Songs and sips
Sioux Falls singer Elisabeth Hunstad will perform from 8 p.m. to midnight Friday at Bin 201, 201 E. 11th St. Fans describe Hunstad as “small in stature but big in sound.” Bin 201 is a full service bar that specializes in wine.
March 12: Pokémon league tournament
A Standard Format Swiss PokĂ©mon Tournament will take place Sunday at the Game Chest, 2115 S. Minnesota Ave. Registration is at noon with Round 1 start time at 12:30 p.m. It will run through 5 p.m. and include four rounds. Cost is $10. It’s for those age 6 and older, but if you’re 6 through 16, you need an adult with you.
March 14: The Great Cookie Caper
Join Julie Olson and the Sioux Falls Science Pub on at 7 p.m. Tuesday for a real-life crime scene investigation at Severance Brewing, 701 N. Phillips Ave. You’ll learn the basic techniques and sort through the evidence to support your arrest of the suspect or suspects. This event is free. Olson is a natural sciences instructor for Southeast Technical College.

Can’t wait to get your hands in the dirt? Register now for a one-day seminar offered by the Minnehaha County Master Gardeners from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Augustana University Froiland Center. It will include four horticulture expert presentations, five Master Gardener-led demonstrations and a chance to hear from South Dakota State University horticulture students.
