The Week Ahead is our hand-picked event guide to the next seven days in Sioux Falls and slightly beyond. For guaranteed placement or to promote your event ahead of time, email [email protected] about a featured event listing.

March 4: Climb With Pride Night

The first Thursday of every month is Climb With Pride Night at Frontier Climbing. From 6 to 9 p.m., in partnership with Sioux Falls Pride, Frontier hosts Pride Night to provide an evening of inclusivity and diversity in support of the growing LGBTQ+ community.

“Whether you are searching for a deeper sense of community or just want to climb with like-minded peers, Pride Night is sure to be a great time for LGBTQ+ individuals and allies,” according to the Facebook event.

March 4-7 and 11-14: The Odd Couple

What happens when an OCD clean freak shares an apartment with someone who can’t operate a vacuum cleaner? Find out when you head to the Orpheum Theater Center for Sioux Empire Community Theatre’s production of “The Odd Couple: Female Version.”
Florence Unger and Olive Madison are the main characters in Neil Simon’s hilarious contemporary comic classic: the female version of “The Odd Couple.” Instead of the poker party that begins the original version, Ms. Madison has invited the girls over for an evening of Trivial Pursuit. And the hilarity takes over from there.

Face coverings are required at all times for all guests, volunteers and staff.
Purchase your tickets here.

March 5: Downtown First Friday

Take advantage of the warm weather and head downtown for First Friday events. Here’s a look at what you’ll find:

  • The 5th annual Downtown Mash Madness kicks off! Taste and vote for your favorite local beers.
  • Free First Friday at Washington Pavilion: Featuring free admission to the Kirby Science Discovery Center and free admission to the Visual Arts Center.
  • Half-price pitchers at Escape 605. Reserve a lane, come enjoy the downtown atmosphere, and experience an Axe-ceptional time.
  • Thompson & Everist: First Friday art reception at Rehfeld’s Art & Framing. Enjoy dynamic and layered watercolor landscapes by Thompson and light-filled, suspended, semiprecious stone pieces by Everist. There also will be an artist talk at 7 p.m. They ask that you attend wearing your snazziest mask.
  • First Friday Live Music with the Hegg Brothers at R Wine Bar & Kitchen.

March 6: Spring Craft Show

Grand Falls Resort hosts its annual spring craft show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. You’ll find vendors from throughout the tristate area, and admission is free.

March 7: Great Bear SnirtFest

Snow + dirt = Snirt. It’s Great Bear Ski Valley’s way to say goodbye to winter, and this year SnirtFest has a 1980s theme in honor of the park’s red chairlift installed in 1981.

It’s being replaced by a new Skytrac quad chairlift. So send it off in style from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the following activities:

  • Limbo & Ollie Contest at 11 a.m.
  • Costume Contest at noon.
  • Group Photo at 12:30 p.m.
  • Zipfy Sled Race at 1:30 p.m.
  • Pond Skim at 3 p.m.

All event proceeds will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire. The cost is $5 to enter each event or $20 to enter all five events. Great Bear also will be open to the public for skiing and snowboarding during SnirtFest on Sunday with $27 lift tickets.
