Aug. 14: Biz Bash and Kidpreneur Market

The Brandon Valley Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Biz Bash starting at 10 a.m. The event will feature a Kidpreneur market from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., where kids will get the chance to show off their own businesses, and other vendor booths will be available to browse from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Also featured will be a petting zoo and inflatables, as well as a Back to School Bash Happy Hour that will have live music from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The Biz Bash will take place in the Splitrock Square parking lot next to Ace Hardware.

Aug. 14-15: DockDogs at Scheels Hunt Expo

Called “the fastest growing sport on four legs,” DockDogs will host an event at the Scheels Hunt Expo. Competitions will include Big Air, or “long jump for dogs,” Extreme Vertical, “high jump for dogs,” and Speed Retrieve, which is a timed event. All three events also will be combined for the Iron Dog challenge. Registration is open to any dog and is available online or on-site at 9 a.m., but you can also come just to watch. The competitions will begin at 10 a.m. both days. Register your dog or team at dockdogs.com.

Aug. 14-15: Bikepacking with Spoke-N-Sport

If you’re looking for a little bit of adventure as the summer winds down, try a unique event hosted by Spoke-N-Sport this weekend: bikepacking. What is it? A 25-mile journey to The Good Earth Farm near Lennox, traveled entirely by bike that culminates at a campsite where you’ll stay overnight. The event begins at 1 p.m. Aug. 14 at the new Spoke-N-Sport location by Spencer Park, and you’ll return at 10 a.m the next day. Registration is open until 5 p.m. Aug. 13, and you can register via Google Form by clicking here. 

Aug. 15: Crisp & Green + Barre3

Crisp & Green on 57th and Western will host one of the restaurant’s signature free fitness classes, this time partnering with Barre3 to host an outdoor class. Barre is a “full-body workout balancing strength conditioning, cardio and mindfulness,” according to Barre3, and participants must bring their own mats. The class will start at 9:30 a.m. and will last for one hour.

Aug. 17: Storytime in the Park

Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation is hosting another Storytime in the Park for kids and families, this time at McKennan Park. There will be songs and a story for kids read by a Siouxland Libraries member. The event will be hosted at the  band shell. No registration is required, and the songs and story will begin at 10 a.m.
