Amazing things happen in our schools every day — if you know where to look! Do you know some school news others would love? Let us know at info@pigeon605.com.

Now that’s an adorable lunch line: The kids at Terry Redlin Elementary have been working hard on learning and practicing the “SOARing expectations” at their school. SOAR stands for Self Control, On Task, Attitude and Respect. Here they are showing off their skills!

The Sioux Falls school district has seen great success with its two-way immersion programs. Shout-outs to the teams at Hayward Elementary and Rosa Parks Elementary making it happen!

We’re sure this is an appreciated donation from Scheels — new football gear for the seventh and eighth graders at George McGovern Middle School.

Have you heard about the Kids Ride Free initiative from the city of Sioux Falls? The city and Sioux Area Metro pulled up at Roosevelt High School to explain how as the city works to increase ridership and build future transit users, children can ride SAM buses with a School ID/Freedom Pass.

The Bison garden at Ben Reifel Middle School is full of flowers and strawberries as summer comes to an end. The garden club is fundraising to build an outdoor classroom for members of the Bison community to use. Click here to purchase a plaque and support the garden project.

They had a fun, interactive start to the year at Eugene Field Elementary.

Kids and staff at St. Lambert Elementary earned a Pajama Day for surpassing the $5,000 mark for their Walk-a-thon! The next milestone is $12,000 for movies in the classroom and the final goal of $20,000 for bounce houses during the school day. All donations raised support the school for technology, classroom needs, speech services, and events in the school.

And finally, first-year teachers receive grants for their classroom from the Sioux Falls Public Schools Education Foundation, and they’re putting them to good use. Elise Holcomb, seventh grade math teacher at Whittier Middle School, made her room a comfortable and inviting space for students to learn.
