With 2 weeks of baseball left, here are 8 great reasons to check out Sioux Falls Canaries

More fans, much better food and a new reason to have fun every time you come to a game all added up to a successful season for the Sioux Falls Canaries.
“We’ve been very pleased with the momentum that has continued to build this year,” said Jack Fossand, True North Sports executive vice president.

“Our crowds are bigger, ticket sales are up, and groups are coming back in full force. The product we’ve been able to put on the field and in the stadium and in the community really has led to a more engaged experience at The Birdcage.”
If you haven’t checked it out yet or are looking to take in another game or two before the season ends, here are eight great reasons to head to The Birdcage in the next two weeks.
New and improved stadium experience
New owners True North Equity Partners acquired the Canaries right before last season and immediately began investing in the team, with a massive new scoreboard, and continued that commitment this year. Fans will find new artificial turf on the stadium infield and premium seating near home plate. Enjoy padded seats and in-seat service from concessions.

“Putting it all together, the fans are staying longer, and they’re staying more engaged,” Fossand said. “And it’s been really fun to see our staff, who we’re super excited about, interacting with the fans and parlaying that into a great experience for everyone.”
Tastier fare
The Canaries brought in a whole new food and beverage menu this year, and fans are loving it.

“Our numbers on concessions are way up, and it’s been really fun to see people no longer eating on their way to the stadium but coming to the game hungry because they’ve found their favorite menu items,” Fossand said.

While the Canaries’ take on stadium classics, including hot dogs, hamburgers and curly fries, are a big hit, diners also are loving the new street corn and fried Oreos.

“It’s been a huge win for us,” Fossand said. “We’ve learned from our guests to double down on classic ballpark fare and do a really good job with it.”

Throwin’ It Back Thursday
The Canaries will celebrate its 30th season with an Aug. 25 game filled with appreciation for all things 1990s. You’ll see the team in powder blue jerseys, set off with ’90s music and trivia. And how about a little ’90s-era pricing on beer and food? You’ll see dynamite deals there too.
Back-to-school night
Take the sting out of heading back to class when you take the kids to the Canaries game Aug. 26. The Canaries are pulling out all the stops with great entertainment and games for kids between innings, plus ticket and concession deals that will make the whole family happy. It’s Friday, which also means you’ll want to stay after the game for fireworks.

WWE Night with Danny Devito, featuring ‘The Trashman’ bobblehead
Your bobblehead collection is about to get better when you add the fourth and final bobble head to the Mount Rushmore of Sitcoms at the game Aug 27. The Canaries went with “The Trashman” from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” created by Frank Reynolds and made popular by Danny Devito.
Faith and Family Day
It’s the final Sunday game of the season Aug. 28, and the Canaries are celebrating the role that faith plays in life. Throughout the game, video testimonials from players will talk about the topic.

Bring the whole family as kids and adults can play catch in the outfield before the game and run the bases after the game. The Sunday family four-pack is available too: Four tickets, four hot dogs and four soft drinks.
‘Fit’ Night
On Aug. 31, Sanford Health partners with the Canaries to bring its “Fit” initiative to The Birdcage. Come at 6 p.m. for pre-game yoga on the berm, food specials and much more from this program developed to empower children and families to make healthy lifestyle choices.

Fan Appreciation Night
The Canaries close out the last home game of the 30th season with a celebration of you, the fans. Don’t miss the game Sept. 1, which will be filled with giveaways, prizes, fantastic deals on concessions and one more throwback to the 1990s. Retro music and entertainment will come with “Throwin’ It Back Thursday” deals on beer and food.
