Sept. 7-Oct. 31: Epic Quest

From now until the end of October, you can take part in a Dungeons & Dragons-style epic quest at Good Earth State Park southeast of Sioux Falls. Teams of four, six or eight can stop by during visitor center hours and pick up a game bag, then roam the park choosing paths, battling monsters and solving puzzles. No D&D experience is needed. Visitor center hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Sept. 7: Park Day!

Midtown Coffee Radio Hour will record its 20th episode, “Park Day!,” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the McKennan Park band shell. The free event will include music, original skits and that feeling of hygge, a Scandinavian word loosely translated as coziness and comfortable conviviality.

Sept. 9: Sidewalk Arts Festival

You’ve been waiting for a year for the Sidewalk Arts Festival in downtown Sioux Falls, and it’s finally here. It’s the 60th annual event, and it includes vendors, food and entertainment. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Learn more about what to expect here.

Sept. 10: Homesteader Day

Big Sioux Recreation Area will host the 45th annual Homesteader Day Celebration from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Beaver Creek Nature Area, 48351 264th St. The afternoon at the nature area southeast of Brandon includes pioneer agriculture demonstrations, blacksmithing, Civil War replica soldiers, Dutch oven cooking, rope making, candle dipping and music. The historic Samuelson cabin will be open. The event is free.

Sept. 13: Zine making

From 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, it will be Zine Making Night at Full Circle Book Co-op, 123 W. 10th St. Satisfy your creative side with the supplies that will be provided, or bring along something you’d like to work with.
