The Week Ahead is our hand-picked event guide to the next seven days in Sioux Falls and slightly beyond. For guaranteed placement or to promote your event ahead of time, email [email protected] about a featured event listing.

Oct. 6: Art & Wine Walk

Sip wine and have a good time at the October Art & Wine Walk, when you can stroll from one downtown shop to the next, enjoying wine samples and discovering new art at every location. Each spot hosts a local artist, from musicians to painters and potters, and each also is stocked with both a red and white wine. Viewing the art is free. Punch cards for wine will be available for purchase from 5 to 8 p.m. The wine-sampling punch card costs $25, or a glass of wine is $5. Downtown Sioux Falls Inc. hosts the event. Find the locations at dtsf.com.

Oct. 6-7: Haunted Farm

It’s the opening weekend for the Haunted Farm in Worthing, which features a spooky barn and woods. There’s also a hayride for visitors to enjoy. Much of visitors’ time on the farm is spent outdoors, so dress for the weather and wear shoes that can take a little mud. Cost is $25 per person. The Haunted Farm is at 47449 276th St., near Worthing. Hours are 7 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday through October.

Oct. 7: Dancing with the Sioux Falls Stars

Dancing with the Sioux Falls Stars will feature local celebrities and seasoned dance professionals who partner for a fundraiser for Empire Mental Health Support. It will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday at The District. The evening will feature a social hour with heavy hors d’oeuvres, a signature cocktail and desserts. Money raised at the event will be used to support ongoing work of education and advocacy to improve the lives of people affected by mental illness.

Oct. 7: Bark in the Park

The Sioux Falls Area Humane Society will host Bark in the Park, its annual 3K and 5K runs, Saturday at Pasley Park. Your furry friends are welcome if they’re leashed. There will be vendor booths, pet contests, prizes and more. Check-in starts at 8 a.m. with a 10 a.m. start time. Pre-register online here.

Oct. 7: Fall Festival

Travel on Saturday to Newton Hills State Park south of Canton for the 23rd annual Fall Festival. The event features a craft show from 1 to 5 p.m., with a candlelight walk from 7:15 to 9:30 p.m.

Oct. 8: Vegetarian potluck

Come to Full Circle Book Co-op at 123 W. 10th St. for a special “spooky” vegetarian potluck from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. The laid-back gathering of good food and good people is free. Just bring a spooky dish and a spooky friend.
