Aug. 1: Art market
SuFu Creative will host an art market from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at Levitt at the Falls. The evening of art and music will include a variety of artists, activities for children and live painting. A raffle will take place with all proceeds going to Levitt Sioux Falls.

Aug 1: Art and wine
The next Downtown Sioux Falls Summer Art & Wine Walk will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday. Various businesses throughout downtown will offer wine and the opportunity to watch creators at work on their pieces. In addition, enjoy live art, street performances and wine tastings on Phillips Avenue from 10th to 11th streets. The street will be closed to vehicles. It’s free to attend, and wine sampling punch cards will be available.

Aug. 1: It’s DOGust
The dog days of summer will begin at 6 p.m. Friday when Sioux Falls Parks & Recreation hosts DOGust 1st at the Pawsible Dog Park at Jacobson Plaza, 810 N. Phillips Ave. Aug. 1 is the universal birthday for shelter and rescue dogs. There will be a dog photo opportunity and doggie agility materials to try out. Sioux Falls Area Humane Society will offer giveaways and information. No registration is required.

Aug. 1-3: Folk festival
The 45th Sioux River Folk Festival will run from Friday evening through Sunday at Newton Hills State Park near Canton. A weekend pass will cost $50, and there are also tickets for individual days at the gate. Saturday’s performances will begin at noon with the Ryan Picone Quartet and conclude at 9:45 p.m. with the Milwaukee bluegrass band Chicken Wire Empire. For a complete schedule, click here.
Aug. 4-10: Navy Week
Navy Week returns to Sioux Falls for the first time since 2016. The nationwide outreach effort will bring at least 50 sailors to engage with the community through a series of performances, educational events and service projects. It also coincides with the U.S. Navy’s 250th birthday. Activities will begin Monday with a Tiny Home Build, the Strike Group at the Sioux Empire Fair and the Naval History and Heritage Command at the Sioux Falls VA Center. Aug. 6: Ag appreciation
Wednesday is Ag Appreciation Day at the 86th annual Sioux Empire Fair, which runs from Friday through Aug. 9 at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds. The Agribusiness Pillar of the Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce will host an ag appreciation luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The luncheon is free to farm families.
