March 6: Artist receptions

Artists Nancyjane Huehl and Angela Behrends share the connection in nature and daily life in a co-exhibition now on display at Rehfeld’s Art & Framing, 421 N. Phillips Ave. An artist reception for “Shared Reflections” will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

A galley reception for “Seven Art Movements: A Tactile Exhibition” will begin at 6 p.m. Friday at the Washington Pavilion Visual Arts Center. It brings together the work of da Vinci, Vermeer, van Gogh and other influential artists in chronological order. Visitors can experience art through touch and sound. The exhibition will run through May 1.

March 7: Pad party

Over the past 16 years, The Pad Party has donated more than a half-million menstrual and hygiene products and thousands of dollars to The Banquet and other local nonprofits. That number will increase Saturday with the annual menstrual hygiene product drive, or “pad party.” Pads, tampons and incontinence products can be donated from 8 a.m. to noon at Queen City Bakery, 324 E. Eighth St., or directly at The Banquet. You also can make a financial contribution via Venmo @thebanquetsf or mail a check to The Banquet, 900 E. Eighth St., Sioux Falls, SD 57103. Please reference “The Pad Party” in the memo. An anonymous donor will match gifts up to a total of $2,500.

March 7: Ag Day

Ag Day at the Washington Pavilion gives children the opportunity to learn about agriculture’s significance in South Dakota and beyond. More than 30 vendors will take part. This is a free event in the Washington Pavilion’s lobby spaces and will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

March 7: Patio pots

Eager to get your hands dirty? Cliff Avenue Greenhouse and Garden Center will offer a Patio Pot DIY at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the 7310 W. 41st St. location. You plant them, and greenhouse staff will take care of them until after May 10. Cost is $55 for a 10-inch pot and $65 for a 12-inch pot with mixed plant plugs, soil and a plastic terracotta pot.

March 9: Fundraiser

Famous Dave’s Bar-B-Que at 2700 S. Minnesota Ave. will host a fundraiser for The Premiere Playhouse from noon to 8 p.m. Monday. Enjoy barbecue while raising money for the local theater company. And mark March 27 on your calendar. Sunny’s Pizzeria, 1801 S. Walts Ave., and the cast of “Hairspray” will offer a fundraiser from 5 to 9 p.m. that day.

Coming up: March 21

Sioux Falls Parks & Recreation’s mobile unit has released its schedule for the spring. Its next appearance will be from 1 to 3 p.m. March 21 at Galway Park, 7420 W. 64th St. The unit provides free activities for all ages, with teams of trained Parks and Rec staff there to be of assistance.
