New initiative aims to show ‘behind every woman is another great woman’

Behind every woman is another great woman.
That’s the message behind the “coins of greatness,” a new fundraiser from EmBe designed to uplift women, driving recognition of women who have made a difference in others’ lives while generating donations that support continued empowerment.
“We all know women who have made a positive impact on our lives, and this is a way to recognize them and build on the idea that we need to lift women up and lean into what makes women so special,” EmBe chief development officer Susanne Gale said.
“Even in the early days of giving out coins of greatness, we’ve seen incredible stories, recognition and traction, and we’re excited to see where it leads.”
For instance, Canopy by Hilton senior sales manager Nichelle Lund received a coin of greatness from Allyson Kasch at Experience Sioux Falls and passed it on to Ronna Poppens at Stewart Title.
“I am so lucky to have an army of amazing women in front of me, next to me and behind me, lifting me up, supporting me and taking me with them every day,” Lund said. “I love these two women so much!”
McNally’s Irish Pub owner Nikki Ellerbroek gave a coin of greatness to HenkinSchultz president and partner Becka Burger.
“Becka and I have worked together for 18-plus years,” Ellerbroek said. “She is a well-respected colleague and friend! She is always pushing every day to make things better, do things differently and provide the best creative customer service to her clients.”
The coins of greatness campaign will support EmBe’s annual fund, which is dedicated to empowering women by providing them with the resources and support they need to thrive.
Here’s how it works:
- Join the challenge: Once you’ve received or requested a coin of greatness, take time to reflect on all the great women in your life.
- Donate: Scan the QR code on the coin to donate and support EmBe’s Mission of empowerment. Or click here to go directly there.
- Share your story: Share on social media – Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn – what the phrase “Behind every great woman is another great woman” means to you. Invite others to be in your photo/video with the coin of greatness, or take a selfie! Use the hashtag #EmbeCoinsOfGreatness, and tag EmBe. Make sure you make your post public so EmBe can see it!
- Pass it on: You have 48 hours to pass the coin to another remarkable woman who embodies the spirit of EmBe and our mission to foster greatness in our community. Grab coffee or lunch, stop by her office or meet up after work – it’s a great chance to connect with a woman who has made a difference in your life and take a memorable photo! Please physically hand your coin to another woman to continue the ripple effect of greatness.
Everyone who donates will receive a #EmBeCoinsOfGreatness sticker showing your support of the campaign. For every $50 you donate, you’ll be entered into a drawing to win a #EmBeCoinsOfGreatness T-shirt.

“We’re already seeing the community enjoy engaging with this effort and are excited to see where it leads,” Gale said.
Look for coins in various places around Sioux Falls as the program continues throughout this year.
“We’re excited for new people to understand who EmBe is and be encouraged to support our work,” Gale said.
“Many women have participated in EmBe programs over the years, and we see this is as a way to reconnect and also expand our reach while doing something fun and sending an important message about the power of women throughout our community.”
