High school seniors: Earn a $1,000 scholarship right from your favorite coffee shop

First National Bank is once again awarding five scholarships to local high school seniors, and it just might be the easiest $1,000 they will earn.

For those looking to apply, the process is simple: Submit the application on First National Bank’s website, include a copy of your high school transcript and create a 30- to 60-second video answering the following prompt:

What type of business would you open in your community, and why?

This could be something you’re passionate about, such as a photography studio, something that fills a need such as a gluten-free, vegan-friendly bakery or something your community would benefit from such as a music store that offers professional lessons for all instruments.

That’s right — no essay required. In fact, the application is so easy that you can do it right from your favorite coffee shop in less than the time it takes to finish your drink.

As soon as your video is ready, here’s what to do:

1. Download and complete the two-page application found on First National Bank’s website.
2. Request an official transcript from your school.
3. Post the video on YouTube, Vimeo, TikTok or Instagram Reels. Choose “public” or “unlisted” when uploading the video, and include a link with the other application materials. If submitting a TikTok or Instagram Reel, make sure your account is set to “public.”
4. Upload these items using the form on First National Bank’s website. All requirements listed above must be met, otherwise it will result in disqualification of the applicant.

Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. Sunday, March 31, and students do not need to be customers of The First National Bank in Sioux Falls to apply.
