New way to pay utility bill online is here

You knew it was coming.

For months, the site where you pay your utilities in Sioux Falls has reminded users that a new, redesigned website was on the way.

Well, it’s here.

The customer self-service portal, called OneMeter, began in February, said Matthew Nelson, public parking and utility billing manager for the city of Sioux Falls.

It feels like a whole different world, with a more modern design that is much easier and cleaner to navigate – and feels less like you stumbled into the back end of someone’s computer system.

Nelson said some of the upgrades include payment compliance updates and other infrastructure to support future enhancements.

“Customers can see historical usage data, set alerts, manage electronic billing and automate payments. The future state includes alerts for potential leaks or high usage and a mobile app,” he said.

“The portal also allows for customers to submit more information online, which over time will streamline efficiencies and reduce work volume on the operations.”

You also can still pay by phone, mail or at a drop box location.
