This week’s My 605 is Andrea Carstensen, a business development officer at Minnwest Bank and owner of pigeon Arnie.
My home in the 605 is: Southwest Sioux Falls — Galway Village.
The biggest reason I live in the 605 is: Friendships and opportunity! The values of our state, plethora of activities and change of seasons are also perks.
After home, I spend the most time here: Does work count as an answer?!
When I need to get away, you’ll find me: Camping in Okoboji, Iowa, or sneaking off to Minnesota to visit family. The Midwest is best!
The best meal I ever ate in the 605 was at: Oshima Sushi Japanese Cuisine or Roam Kitchen + Bar.
My go-to coffee shop is: Scooter’s.
My favorite place to grab an adult beverage in the 605 is: R Wine Bar — *cheers*.
When I need to experience the great outdoors, you’ll find me: On a golf course. Practice makes perfect, right?!
The spot I’d recommend for a date is: I prefer something more laid back or active. Some options include Great Shots, local breweries, the farmers market, an escape room or the movies.
The best pizza in the 605 is: The Smokin’ Q from MacKenzie River or a concoction from Pizza Rev for a quicker on-the-go option.
When my friends and I get together, you’ll probably find us: At a Digz volleyball tournament, on a walk at one of our beautiful parks, trying new restaurants, visiting vendor shows or at home in sweats with a drink in hand!
The place you never can go wrong taking kids is: Although I do not have kids, I have the joy of watching three precious boys grow up. Some of our favorites are Thunder Road, the Washington Pavilion, the Great Plains Zoo or American Gymnastics Academy.
When I want to meet new people in the 605 I go to: A Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce event or Young Professionals Network mixer! Volunteer opportunities are a great way to get involved too.
My best memory in the 605 is: I went to school at Augustana University; the first year, specifically, was the absolute best, full of great memories exploring our city/state. Skol, Vikes!
The one thing I’m least crazy about in the 605 is: Increasing traffic in the Sioux Empire.
